Fontana Arte was founded in Milan in 1932, when architect Gio Ponti became the art director of Luigi Fontana, one the largest glass manufacturers in Italy. Soon, they were joined by the talented Modernist and Art Deco designer, Pietro Chiesa.
Initially, the founders' emphasis was on producing decorative stained glass for churches and cathedrals, but gradually, the focus shifted on finding new ways of using glass. Thus, stunning sculptures were created, equally impressive with the light on or off.
In 2004, the company moved its showroom to New York. Due to its long-standing cooperation with the brightest designers in the field, the brand has achieved market recognition and built an image associated with the idea of exceptional quality. Fontana Arte offers customers a wide range of lighting solutions customized for all types of environments, from residential interiors and office spaces to public areas or hospitality projects.
Locations bearing the distinctive signature of Fontana Arte include the renowned Bulgari Boutique in Madrid, the Pfizer headquarters in Rome and the Radisson Dubai Marina Hotel.
